SafeUnfollow vs Followers App
A note on the name. “Followers App” is used by several different products on iOS and Android, and they do not share prices, limits or data practices. We cannot tell which one you mean, so this page states none of those figures for it. What it can compare is the part that does not vary: how a tracker gets your data, because that choice decides everything else.
The Two Ways A Tracker Can Work
There are only two, and they have different consequences.
It watches your account. To tell you within hours that someone unfollowed you, a tool has to check on its own schedule, whether or not you have the app open. That requires standing access to your account — a login, or a connected session — and it means the comparison happens on somebody’s server rather than on your phone. That is not a flaw in any particular app; it is what real-time notification requires.
It reads an export you download. Instagram will hand you your own follower and following lists as a file. A tool that works this way never touches your account: you download the file, it reads it, and you see the result. The cost is that it is a snapshot — to see what changed, you export again.
SafeUnfollow is the second kind. If real-time alerts are what you actually want, the first kind is the right choice and we are not it.
What SafeUnfollow Is
| SafeUnfollow | |
|---|---|
| How it gets your data | You upload Instagram’s official export file |
| Instagram login | Not required |
| Where the analysis runs | In your browser — the export is parsed, stored and filtered on your device |
| Free | The whole analysis — every badge, every filter, the complete list, at any account size |
| Paid | A one-time unlock for downloading your list as a file; price shown on the button in your currency, with a free sample of the first rows before you pay |
| Account size limit | 1M+ by design — unit-tested at 1,000,000 accounts |
| Real-time alerts | No |
| Platform | Any browser, desktop or mobile; installable as a PWA |
| Source code | Published under the MIT license |
The site itself is not silent on the network — it loads anonymous page analytics, and the results page carries ads. What the rest of the site loads is set out on the privacy page. The export is the part that stays on your device.
Choosing Between Them
| If you want | Choose |
|---|---|
| To be notified within hours when someone unfollows | An app that connects to your account |
| To check without handing over a login | SafeUnfollow |
| An account larger than a mobile app comfortably handles | SafeUnfollow — built and unit-tested for 1,000,000 accounts |
| To download the result as a file | SafeUnfollow — one-time unlock, free sample first |
| To read the code that touches your data | SafeUnfollow — MIT-licensed on GitHub |
Check Any Of Them Yourself
Rather than take our word about any app, including ours: how to check any unfollowers tracker in two minutes. The last of the five questions needs no trust in anybody — open your browser’s network panel, load your file, and watch whether your archive appears in any request.
Common Questions
Is there an Instagram unfollow tracker that does not need my password? Yes. SafeUnfollow reads Instagram’s official data export, so there is no login step and nothing to revoke afterwards.
Do I need to install an app? No. It runs in any browser and can be installed as a PWA if you want an icon. There is no browser extension, and nothing runs inside your Instagram session.
Try It
Upload your export — the analysis runs in your browser and the file stays on your device.
Not ready? Try it with sample data — nothing to upload. Or get your export first — step-by-step.
